Supreme Court agrees to hear challenge to assault weapons bans.
The Supreme Court will consider another consequential ruling on gun violence prevention next term: Assault weapons bans. The gun lobby hopes the conservative-leaning court will rule thatn these bans violate the Second Amendment – and we can't let that happen, John.
With constant bloodshed caused by assault rifles, we know how critical these bans are. We can’t make the Court’s decision for them, but we can prove that the majority of Americans support banning deadly assault weapons. Please, respond to Brady’s urgent poll today, John:

John,
Assault weapons have been used to kill people in grocery stores, at concerts, in places of worship. They’ve been used to gun down children in their classroom. Everyday life is under constant threat because our lawmakers refuse to act in the interest of our safety. But in the face of Congressional inaction, some states have taken critical action to ban assault weapons – including in Connecticut and Cook County, Illinois.
Despite their proven life-saving effect, these bans are under attack by the gun lobby and the Trump Administration. The gun lobby would rather make a profit off of marketing these deadly weapons to dangerous users than support any measure that would keep our children and families safe.
And now, the Supreme Court has announced they will consider if the assault weapons bans in Connecticut and Illinois violate the Second Amendment. John, every federal court that has reviewed these bans has upheld them because there is overwhelming evidence supporting their constitutionality – on top of the undeniable evidence that these bans save lives.
The gun lobby is hoping the highest court in the land will make a deadly decision in their favor. If the Supreme Court sides with the gun lobby once again, more people will die. The Court must prioritize American lives over gun lobby interest and profit.
We can’t make the Court’s decision for them, but we can show overwhelming support for banning assault weapons. John, will you respond to Brady’s urgent poll today and prove Americans want weapons of war off our streets? >>
