Putting People First

Dear Friend,

As the summer starts to wind down and our nation continues to grapple with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and other urgent challenges, we wanted to keep you personally updated on how the work at the Clinton Foundation continues to put people first and improve lives across the country and around the world.

1. As overdose deaths spike, the Clinton Foundation distributes more than 155,000 doses of lifesaving naloxone to recovery residences and community organizations across the United States. Through a new partnership among the Clinton Foundation, Direct Relief, the Voices Project, and the National Alliance for Recovery Residences, recovery residences and community organizations across the country now have access to the lifesaving opioid overdose reversal drug, naloxone. Read more about this lifesaving partnership in USA TODAY.
2. The Clinton Presidential Center provides meals, school supplies, and support for virtual learning. Together with partners World Central Kitchen and the City of Little Rock, we’ve distributed more than 680,000 meals to Central Arkansans in need. And, as families prepared for back to school, the Center provided 3,000 backpacks filled with school supplies for underserved students. This school year, we’ll continue serving students and educators through educational programs like free ACT prep and workshops offered virtually. See what this work looks like in action and follow @ClintonCenter to stay updated.
3. Too Small to Fail reaches children and families in underserved communities with critical resources to support early learning. Through partnerships with the National Diaper Bank Network, National Head Start Association, World Central Kitchen, Navajo Nation, and local communities across the country, we’ve distributed more than 50,000 books, provided by Scholastic; essential needs items, like diapers and baby formula; and copies of our Indoor Activities Kit to support parents and caregivers with their child’s early learning and development. Read how books and supplies are getting to some of the hardest hit in the Navajo Nation.
4. CGI University awards $100,000 in funding to support student entrepreneurs in the fight against COVID-19. These social impact projects include the creation of infectious disease monitoring and response systems; social enterprises; awareness and prevention campaigns; and emergency response initiatives to provide immediate support for public health practitioners and other essential workers on the front lines. Meet seven students building innovative projects to fight COVID-19.
5. The work continues in the fight against climate change and our efforts to support disaster recovery after natural disasters. We’re bringing leaders together across philanthropy, public, and private sectors to continue making progress against the threat of natural disasters and climate change. Learn how a new partnership among Clinton Global Initiative Action Network partners IBM, Grillo, and Linux Foundation is putting early warning earthquake systems in place across the Caribbean.

Thank you for making this work possible. Stay safe and as President Clinton often says — let’s stand together for as many tomorrows as it takes.

In partnership,
