18 months into this presidency and the verdict is absolutely clear: 

The Trump administration’s blatant disregard for the law is unprecedented in scope and deeply harmful to our country. 

It’s bad for businesses, for workers, for families and children and the elderly, for immigrants, for women, for the LGBTQ community, and for our entire nation’s economy. 

That’s why my office has filed 82 lawsuits against Donald Trump and his administration in the last 18 months — more than one a week. We’ve been fighting back and holding the most lawless president in American history accountable, and as long as he keeps breaking the law, we'll keep showing up.

And we’re not just filing lawsuits, we’re winning them — at an 83% win rate.

Through these wins, we've protected $207 billion in federal funding that Trump tried to rip away from mostly vulnerable Californians. Money for public safety, food assistance, schools, clean energy, victims of crime, libraries, museums, and other vital programs. When Trump went after SNAP funding and literally tried to rip food away from hungry Californians, we sued — and we stopped him.  

We’ve won consistently and repeatedly in courtrooms all over the country, at every level of the court system, including the U.S. Supreme Court. 

We won on Trump's centerpiece economic policy of tariffs. We won on his unlawful deployment of the National Guard to our cities right here in California and across the country. We won over and over again on California's redistricting clapback, Prop 50. 

And we won on one of the most fundamental, core Constitutional rights at the Supreme Court: birthright citizenship. 

Trump and I were both in the courtroom for that case, and so I witnessed his devastating and humiliating loss when he tried to revoke a constitutional right at the stroke of a pen — something no president has the power to do.

This has been a historic presidency, but not in the way that Trump wants it to be. It's historic in its unlawfulness, its willingness to trample on our Constitution, hurt our economy, drive up prices, and leave the most vulnerable among us out in the cold. 

But we knew what was coming, because Trump told us outright on the campaign trail, and Project 2025 spelled it out for everyone to see. So we made a plan, and we were ready from day one.

Over the last 80 weeks, we’ve reaffirmed over and over again: No one is above the law. We do not live in a monarchy. There are clear limits on the president's power, and every time he tries to exceed them, we will hold him accountable.
