Let me start by saying something many of you probably already know. And that is, today in this country, the game is rigged against workers trying to form a union and bargain for a fair contract.
This is true in almost all sectors, including those where working conditions can impact the health and welfare of all of us.
Take the UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital.
If you are from the area, you are familiar. I was born at that hospital. Almost half of the births in Allegheny County happen there. They care for more than 1,500 severely or critically ill babies a year.
Right now, a group of about 900 nurses and advanced practitioners at the hospital are fighting for a fair contract, but have been met with 8 months of stalling, delays, and bad faith bargaining.
And what are some of the radical things those nurses and others in the unit are asking for?
Fair wages and more staff. They want–at UPMC's most profitable hospital–an appropriate number of staff to deal with the families they care for on a daily basis.
I met with a number of the hospital workers last week, and I wanted to share a little bit more information about their struggle with you.
I know... this isn't your usual political email. Very true. But support from the community and allies everywhere is a powerful tool in these fights where workers have the deck stacked against them.
So I hope you'll watch the video above. Drive up its view count. Maybe send a message of support online about the struggle.
Thanks for reading.
In solidarity,
Chris Deluzio

If everyone getting this email contributed just $20 to his re-election, he would win this November with ease and put Democrats one step closer to taking back the House.
Unfortunately, not everyone gives—so he's counting on people like you who know the stakes in this election to chip-in what they can.
