Trophy hunters could soon kill one of Yellowstone’s most beloved and historically significant wolf packs.

Mollie’s pack, the last remaining pack originally established during Yellowstone’s wolf reintroduction over 30 years ago, has moved into a Wyoming hunting area.

The Center is urging the state’s Game and Fish Commission to protect them by closing Hunt Area 1 to wolf-hunting.

Named for Mollie Beattie, the first woman to direct the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the pack is celebrated far beyond Yellowstone.

Its majestic 12-year-old matriarch, Wolf 1090F, has spent nearly her entire life inside the park and is Yellowstone’s oldest living wolf. But after establishing a den outside the park’s boundary, the pack is now under Wyoming’s jurisdiction.

When the state’s hunting season opens Sept. 15, trophy hunters could legally kill up to four of these wolves, including 1090F.

After everything these remarkable wolves have survived, their future could come down to one hunter’s decision.

Mollie’s pack is among the most documented gray wolf packs in the world. They’ve contributed to decades of important scientific research and are a living part of a great American conservation success story.

We can’t allow this extraordinary wolf family to be torn apart for crossing an invisible line on a map.

The Center is doing everything we can to protect Mollie’s pack, and we’re in court to secure federal protection for all the wolves of the northern Rockies. But we need you with us.
