The election countdown is on, with just five more sitting weeks left before Parliament rises ahead of 7 November 2026.
In the second-to-last week of July, I welcomed Prime Minister Rt Hon Christopher Luxon to Rangitīkei - you can read more about his visit later in this newsletter. If you didn't get the chance to see him then, or would simply like another opportunity, I'd love for you to join us at our Rangitīkei Electorate Supporters Lunch this Friday in Manakau. On Saturday we'll officially launch our Rangitīkei Campaign at La Bull Café in Marton. National Campaign Chair Hon Simeon Brown will be joining us, with former Rangitīkei MP Ian McKelvie on MC duties. I'd love to see you there to kick off the campaign as we head towards 7 November!

Showcasing Rangitīkei to the Prime Minister
It was a pleasure to welcome Prime Minister Rt Hon Christopher Luxon to Rangitīkei in July and showcase some of the outstanding businesses driving our local economy.
Our day began in Levin with a visit to Mitchpine, where Lee, Kathy and the team showed us around their impressive new round wood mill and automated processing plant. From there we travelled to Feilding to visit Proliant, meeting with staff and local farmer suppliers and seeing firsthand how their world-leading protein products are exported from provincial New Zealand to markets around the world.
While they operate in very different industries, both businesses are investing, growing and creating jobs and opportunities for local people while adding value to our economy. It was fantastic to show the Prime Minister what is being achieved right here in Rangitīkei.

The day wrapped up with a packed public meeting at the Feilding Civic Centre, where around 380 people came along to hear from the Prime Minister and ask questions on issues important to our communities, including rural school bus services ... more on that below.

Update on Rural School Services
I know this issue has been front of mind for many local families.
Over recent months, I have heard from parents, caregivers and schools across Rangitīkei, and I have continued raising their concerns in Parliament and with Ministers.
I was pleased the Prime Minister acknowledged this issue during his visit to Feilding, recognising both the importance of the review and the need to provide greater certainty for families in the meantime.
The current policy is outdated and needs to be modernised to better reflect today's realities. While this review is important, giving families certainty while the work continues is equally important.
I'm pleased the Ministry of Education is now working with affected schools on an interim solution for impacted families.
Thank you to everyone who has contacted me and shared your experiences. Your feedback has been invaluable in helping me advocate for a practical way forward. I will continue to keep you updated.
