This moment is as close to make-or-break as it gets.

In just a year and a half back in office, Trump has been barreling ahead with one reckless, extreme, downright cuckoo idea after another. We’ve watched attacks on civil liberties, seen basic safeguards tossed aside, and watched the administration drag us into a dangerous conflict with Iran that’s already cost taxpayers billions.

And here’s the part that ought to make every Democrat sit up and pay attention: If we don’t flip a handful of competitive Senate seats, the Senate will keep acting like a rubber stamp for whatever half-baked nonsense comes out of the Trump White House next.

I’ve been around politics a long time, and I’ll tell you what: I haven’t seen anything quite like this chaos.

The whole thing is enough to make your head spin.

But while Trump and his buddies are busy peddling the same old nonsense, they’re also raising mountains of cash to protect their Senate majority and tear down Democratic candidates in key battleground states.

Those folks aren’t messing around — so we can’t either.

Down here in Louisiana, we’d say it’s time to quit fishing around the edges of the bayou and start hauling in the net. We’ve got to outwork these clowns, out-organize these loudmouths, and beat the hell out of their strategy before Election Day gets here.
