Dear John,

For more than three decades, Alabama Arise members have come together to advocate for the policies our families need to thrive — from fighting for fairer tax systems to expanding school breakfast funding to securing paid parental leave for public school employees.

But we know our work is far from finished.

That is why Alabama Arise is launching a new campaign: Public School Strong Alabama. We are building a statewide network of parents, educators and community members trained to monitor local school boards, advocate for full funding, support our school staff and stand up against censorship.

We want you to be a part of this movement from day one. Will you join us on Aug. 4 for our virtual Public School Strong (PSS) Alabama kickoff? Register here!

What: Public School Strong Alabama Virtual Kickoff

When: Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, from 6 to 7 p.m.

Where: Online via Zoom (Register here)

In this virtual gathering, you will learn the core PSS organizing framework, understand how to navigate and monitor your local school district’s upcoming budget hearings. You also will have the chance to connect with other public education defenders in your area.

Today, our public schools are under siege. Programs like the CHOOSE Act school vouchers are designed to divert millions of public dollars into private schools. At the same time, divisive bans on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) are attempting to censor our classrooms and create hostile environments for our teachers and students.

It’s time to organize. Our public schools belong to all of us. Let’s stand together to make them strong.

In solidarity,

Adam Keller
Worker Power Campaign Director, Alabama Arise

P.S. Can’t make it live? You can attend the next live Public School Strong orientation and national organizing call on Aug. 11 or complete a self-directed PSS orientation anytime. (Note: You will need to create a free account.)
