August is Make a Will Month – a good reminder that the people, places, and causes you love deserve a plan.

Still reading? Great! Because despite what most people assume, wills aren't reserved for a certain age or income – they're for everyone. Including you. 

Did you know that 68% of Americans have NOT created a will? This means that nearly seven out of ten people have no legal plan in place to ensure their wishes are actually carried out. 

But here's what might come as a surprise to you: starting a will doesn't have to mean hiring an attorney, clearing your calendar, or spending a lot of money. Free online tools, like FreeWill, let you create a legally valid will in about 20 minutes.

And once it's done? You get to decide what happens — to your belongings, to the people and pets you love, and to the places that matter to you. That can include designating a guardian for your kids, making sure a treasured possession goes to the right person, and yes, leaving a gift to protect the Boundary Waters for generations to come!

Your will is your voice, and August is a great time to use it.
