1) Public Enemy No. 2: Dr. Deborah Birx

Deb is pretending she is “shocked” by some of the revelations in the Fauci diaries and spinning the story that it was he, not she, who was the culprit for lockdowns.

There really is no honor among thieves.

She was Bonnie and he was Clyde.

Not even Anthony Fauci did as much to plunge much of the country into turmoil and fear and lockdowns, school closures, and draconian mandates as Deborah Birx. We don't need a diary to become public to know that, because she bragged about tricking President Trump in her own book:
[link removed]

The places that followed her draconian advice had the harshest lockdowns with the worst economic and educational outcomes, with no attendant health benefits. The Fauci diary entry about sidelining Scott Atlas's efforts to get schools open and instead keep them closed until they "eliminate" the virus was an email to Birx agreeing with her.

Birx's new effort in the media to criticize Fauci is laughable and based on her objection that Fauci was directly advising state and local politicians to impose school closures instead of going through her official recommendations. But that's just a meaningless turf battle, because they were BOTH recommending shut downs.

This post of Legal Insurrection makes a solid case that she is COVID enemy #2, or possibly #1A with Fauci.

Time for another hearing, Senator Paul.

2) Montana Is the New Capital of Medical Freedom

We've long wondered why states have been happy to disregard federal law on marijuana (we have always been in favor of legalization), but not use of other medicines and drugs.

A state that insisted on asserting its sovereignty to allow people to buy and sell any medical product they wish, with informed consent, would become a mecca for innovation and freedom and better health. Now Montana has taken the first step in that direction, with the country's most expansive Right to Try law.

MIT Technology Review reports:

As of this week in Montana, any biotech company with an experimental drug has a clear path to selling it to consumers. Companies whose drugs have been through preliminary testing - sometimes in as few as 10 healthy people - can pay $12,500 to apply to a newly established review board for approval. Once its treatment is rubber-stamped, the company can set the price of the drug and sell it via experimental treatment clinics, the first of which is likely to be up and running around the end of this year.

Montana's latest right-to-try legislation is unique. While other jurisdictions with similar laws limit access to drugs to people with terminal illness, in Montana access is theoretically available to anyone who gives informed consent and can pay. That includes people desperate for treatments for rare diseases. It also includes those who are interested in longevity and want to try out drugs pitched as preventive therapies.

The state's Department of Health and Human Services recently finalized rules to implement the law. The rules stipulate that patient consumers provide fully informed consent and that each application be reviewed by a board that includes a Montana-certified doctor, expert scientists, and an ethicist.

3) Crime-Fighter in Chief

The higher oil prices we are facing now are a tax on the American economy and help explain the drop in growth rates in the last two quarters. But crime is also a tax on families and businesses, and the news on this front is ALL very good. Here are the latest statistics:

In the first half of 2026 vs. the same period last year:
* Homicides are down 18% — on pace for the lowest level in at least 126 years.

[link removed]
[link removed]
* Motor vehicle thefts are down 20%.
* Robberies are down 17%.
* Residential burglaries are down 13%.

Compared to the peaks of the past nine years:
* Homicides are down 51%.
* Carjackings are down 73%.
* Residential burglaries are down 56%.
* Motor vehicle thefts are down 51%.

The steepest homicide drops have come in cities where the Trump Administration stepped in after Democrat leaders failed to act:
* In Memphis, murders are down ([link removed]) more than 43% so far this year — after the city recorded ([link removed]) fewer than 200 murders last year for the first time since 2019.
* In Washington, D.C., murders are down ([link removed]) more than 42% so far this year — following a 60% plunge ([link removed]) in murders last year.
* In New Orleans, murders are down ([link removed]) more than 32% so far this year — after the city’s homicide rate fell ([link removed]) last year to its lowest in nearly 50 years.
* In Los Angeles, murders are down ([link removed]) more than 18% so far this year — after the city saw ([link removed]) a nearly 20% drop last year.

Since criminals generally prey on low-income families and minorities, lowering crime is one of the best ways to enhance civil and equal rights and reduce poverty.

5) Video of the Day

Law student Tony Vanderhoef has produced a sharp video on Mamdani's taxpayer-funded grocery stores:

The Mamdani markets are official, and they're a bad deal. 70 million taxpayer dollars up front for 5 stores. And so what do you get for that? Well, 30% discounts on a small list of goods. Aldi already beats that. Walmart already beats that. So the city is spending $70 million to lose to competitors that already exist for free. And keep in mind, this is before a single day of operating cost is accounted for. You still have staff, inventory, maintenance. None of that 30% discount pays for itself.

And for what? A narrow selection of basic goods. You don't have a pharmacy, there's no deli counter, you don't have a bakery. And so what New Yorkers are really getting in reality are higher costs with smaller discounts, with fewer options, without any services. It's a textbook example of a bloated bureaucratic government requiring more to give you less…

There's reportedly 45 grocery stores within a 35-minute walk of the site he picked. The desert isn't real. The math was never the point, and it's not really about the savings. It's about government control, government ownership of these facilities. It's really about socialism.
