The sudden death of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham shook many of us -- but probably no one more than his beloved sister, Darline Graham.

Yet only two days later, Darline answered the call to serve. South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster appointed Darline to be Lindsey's successor in the U.S. Senate.

The following day she was sworn in, becoming the first woman to ever serve South Carolina in the U.S. Senate.

Sometimes women break ceilings with big wins. Sometimes we break them with heartbreaking losses.

GRAHAM, RODRIGUEZ, HONEYCUTT AND WEAVER EARN MAGGIE’S LIST ENDORSEMENTS

Maggie's List has endorsed four more women in Kentucky and South Carolina.

The new endorsements are U.S. Senator Darline Graham to continue to represent South Carolina in the U.S. Senate, Maria Rodriguez in Kentucky’s 3rd Congressional District, Jenny Costa Honeycutt in South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, and Ellen Weaver for reelection as South Carolina Superintendent of Education.

These four bring the number of Maggie’s List’s current 2026 endorsements to fifty.

U.S. SENATE

Maggie’s List has endorsed U.S. Senator Darline Graham to continue to represent South Carolina in the U.S. Senate.

On July 14, 2026, Senator Darline Graham became the first woman to represent South Carolina in the U.S. Senate after South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster appointed her to fill the senate seat vacated by her brother, the late U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham.

“I am humbled and honored to receive the endorsement of Maggie’s List,” said Senator Graham. “Their support reflects our shared commitment to conservative leadership, fiscal responsibility, and protecting the values that matter most to South Carolina families. I look forward to earning every vote and taking that fight to the United States Senate.”

Before her Senate appointment, Darline led the South Carolina Commission for the Blind as commissioner and agency head for seven years. Earlier in her career, she spent twelve years with the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department, where she served as business services director and communications/public information director. Her distinguished career also includes leadership roles at Clemson University and the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce, giving her decades of experience in public service, workforce development, strategic communications, and organizational leadership.

U.S. HOUSE

Maggie’s List has endorsed Maria Rodriguez in Kentucky’s 3rd Congressional District. Rodriguez won her district’s primary on May 19.

"I am deeply honored to receive the endorsement of Maggie's List,” said Maria Rodriguez. “As an ER nurse, small business owner, legal immigrant, and mother, I know firsthand the importance of principled, servant leadership. I am committed to fighting for the families of Kentucky's 3rd District by defending our constitutional freedoms, supporting law enforcement, protecting women and girls, and promoting opportunity through conservative values. I am grateful for Maggie's List's confidence in our campaign, and I look forward to earning the trust and support of voters this November."

Born and raised under Fidel Castro's communist regime in Cuba, Maria experienced political oppression firsthand as her family endured persecution for their faith and convictions. After an eleven-year journey to secure asylum, she arrived in America at age twenty-one determined to build a better future. She worked tirelessly to learn English, support her family, and earn her education before achieving one of her greatest dreams: becoming a United States citizen.

Maggie’s List has endorsed Jenny Costa Honeycutt in South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District. Honeycutt won her district’s primary runoff on June 23.

STATE OFFICE

Maggie’s List has endorsed South Carolina Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver for reelection.

“I’m honored to earn the endorsement of Maggie’s List and proud to stand alongside strong conservative women who believe principled leadership should deliver real results,” said Ellen Weaver. “In South Carolina, we’re proving what’s possible when we pair high expectations with common sense and accountability—getting back to the basics of reading and math, supporting great teachers, empowering parents, and ensuring every education dollar is focused on student success. We’ve made tremendous progress, but there is more work ahead. I’m grateful to Maggie’s List for their confidence in our mission to give every South Carolina student the strong foundation they need to learn, grow, and pursue their God-given potential.”

Weaver’s election in 2022 marked a significant political shift in South Carolina’s educational leadership. As the former president and CEO of a conservative state think tank and former chair of the South Carolina Education Oversight Committee, she brought decades of experience as a passionate advocate for educational excellence and opportunity. Since taking office, she has delivered on the promises she made: raising pay and securing paid parental leave for teachers, launching bold literacy and math reforms, expanding education choice, and cutting red tape so teachers can focus on teaching.

“Ellen Weaver is a bright and shining star,” said Maggie’s List South Carolina Chair Beverly Owensby. “She understands firsthand that a quality education is the gateway to the American Dream. These four endorsements bring the number of Maggie’s List’s current 2026 endorsements to 50 – eight U.S. Senate races, thirty-four U.S. House races, and eight statewide races.

AUGUST PRIMARY ELECTION GUIDE

Kansas has never had a female Republican governor. On August 4, Kansas Republicans have the opportunity to make history by nominating Vicki Schmidt for governor.

In Missouri, incumbent Rep. Ann Wagner faces several challengers for her seat in Missouri's 2nd Congressional District.

Michele Tafoya, one of the most respected figures in sports media, is bringing that same straight-talking approach to politics. She believes Minnesota deserves better than the corruption and fraud scandals that have dominated national headlines, and is running to represent Minnesota in the U.S. Senate.

U.S. Senator Darline Graham recently became the first woman to represent South Carolina in the U.S. Senate when she was appointed to fill her brother's seat. On August 11, she will face a crowded Republican primary as she seeks the nomination to defend her seat in November.

Incumbent U.S. Senator Ashley Moody became only the second woman to represent Florida in the U.S. Senate when she was appointed to fill Marco Rubio's vacated seat. She faces several challengers as she seeks to defend her seat.

A Navy reservist and Trump White House alum, Bea Valenti most recently served as senior domestic policy advisor to Senator Moody. We've endorsed her campaign in Florida's 14th Congressional District.

Maggie’s List was one of the first to endorse Sydney Gruters in Florida’s 16th Congressional District. Sydney has also been endorsed by President Trump, Speaker Johnson, and Sen. Rick Scott.

Before representing Florida’s 27th Congressional District, incumbent Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar was an Emmy-winning Telemundo journalist and the daughter of Cuban exiles. She is defending her seat in order to continue her work exposing oppressive regimes and advocating for freedom and democracy.

Maggie’s List has endorsed Rep. Harriet Hageman for Wyoming’s Senate seat. A fourth-generation Wyomingite, Rep. Hageman is known for standing up against federal overreach, protecting private property rights and reining in the regulatory state.

Congratulations to Kimberly Yee for winning the Republican primary for Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction, defeating the incumbent in order to do so.

Kimberly is currently Arizona State Treasurer, which means she is the highest-ranking statewide elected Republican in Arizona. Term limit provisions in the state constitution prevented her from continuing in that position, and we're delighted to see her pivot so beautifully.

Kimberly has served Arizona in other roles as well — as the first Asian-American woman elected to the Arizona State Legislature, and the second female Senate Majority Leader in the state’s history following Sandra Day O’Connor. She has been named by Congressional Quarterly’s Roll Call as one of the “25 Most Influential Women in State Politics.”
