John,
Did you see yesterday’s email? I want to update you about how I’m fighting for you and your family in Congress.
I got the nickname “Mama Bear” because I never back down from corporations and billionaire bullies that want to profit off our pain. This includes my fights in the House Oversight Committee & Financial Services Committee, where I hold Big Banks, the Trump administration, and greedy corporations accountable.
I’ve recently introduced four bills to protect you from financial abuse and predatory lending, lead poisoning, corporate price-gouging, and destructive AI data centers.
For example, the No AI Data Centers on Federal Lands Act would permanently ban large AI data centers on our public lands.
Click here to check out and add your name in support of my policies that protect people and take on predatory, polluting corporations.
I’m running for re-election because I know there’s more work to do. Already we have:
-
Signed into law the Payee Fraud Prevention Act, to stop fraudulent activity that targets seniors, retirees, and people with disabilities.
-
Passed into law the Housing Our Communities Act to fund affordable housing across the country and bring us closer to ensuring safe, affordable housing as a human right for all.
-
Created the nation’s first water assistance and shutoff prevention program, securing over $1.1 billion to stop water shutoffs for people who can’t afford rising water bills — because access to clean water is a human right.
-
Worked with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to change the lives of 15 million Americans by removing $50 billion in medical debt from their credit reports. Trump undid this progress but our fight is not over!
-
Brought home $68 million for projects across every community in my congressional district, including over $7 million for home repair programs for seniors and flood victims, and over $20 million to remove and replace lead pipes and improve infrastructure.
-
Started the Mamas Caucus, the Get The Lead Out Caucus, and the People’s Environmental Justice Caucus in Congress to fight for our families, remove lead from drinking water, end environmental racism, ensure health equity, and secure changes like universal childcare and paid leave.
And more! I’m grateful to be with you in the fight for a democracy and economy where we can all thrive.
Always fighting for you,
Rashida

John,
My nickname in Congress is “Mama Bear” because I never back down from bullies and corporations that try to hurt our communities and profit off our pain.
I’m running for re-election to keep fighting in Congress to protect you and your family. For example, here are recent policies I’ve introduced to protect you from lead poisoning, data centers, corporate price-gouging, and economic abuse:
-
The No AI Data Centers on Federal Lands Act would permanently ban large AI data centers and related infrastructure on land owned or managed by the U.S. government. Our public lands are for us, not destructive and polluting data centers!
-
The GET THE LEAD OUT Act and the Removing Existing Pipes with Lead and Advancing Clean Environments (REPLACE) Act, which I’m co-leading with Rep. Shontel Brown, would address the lead poisoning crisis by removing lead from drinking water and from our homes.
-
The FAIR Credit Act (Fostering Accuracy and Integrity in the Reporting of Credit) would restore credit for victims of predatory lending, fraud, and financial abuse — and ban medical debt from being included on credit reports. This expands opportunities for Americans whose credit scores have blocked them from accessing basic needs like housing.
-
The Stop Price Gouging in Grocery Stores Act would prohibit stores from using cameras and your personal data to manipulate and raise food prices.
Could you sign on to show Congress you support these bills to expand economic justice while taking on corporate greed, poisonous pollution, the unjust credit reporting system, and AI data centers?
Thank you for taking action! It’s an honor to work for you in Congress.
My first bill signed into law was the Payee Fraud Prevention Act, to stop fraudulent activity that targets seniors, retirees, and people with disabilities. The Housing Our Communities Act was my latest bill to become law — it will fund affordable housing across the country and bring us closer to ensuring safe, affordable housing as a human right for all.
I also created the nation’s first water assistance and shutoff prevention program, securing over $1.1 billion to stop water shutoffs for people who can’t afford rising water bills, and I’ve introduced the Water Access & Affordability Act to create the first permanent federal water affordability program.
And I passed the Restoring Communities Left Behind Act, which funds home repairs and neighborhood revitalization. Since I began in Congress in 2019, I’ve also brought home $68 million for projects across every community in my congressional district, including over $7 million for home repair programs for seniors and flood victims, and over $20 million to remove and replace lead pipes and improve infrastructure.
I’ve also worked with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to change the lives of 15 million Americans by removing $50 billion in medical debt from their credit reports. Trump undid this progress but our fight is not over!
In Congress, I serve on the House Oversight Committee & Financial Services Committee where I fight against Big Banks, the Trump administration, and corporations that profit off our pain.
I’ve also co-founded and I co-lead the Get The Lead Out Caucus and the People’s Environmental Justice Caucus in Congress, to build on the work we’ve started to guarantee everyone the right to drink clean water, breathe clean air, and live in a healthy environment.
And I’m supporting and leading legislation to put a nationwide moratorium on data centers’ expansion, erase medical debt and utility debt (including water bills), guarantee healthcare for all Americans, hold utilities and other for-profit corporations accountable, and end poverty.
I’m running for Congress again because I know we have more work to do together. And I’m grateful to be with you in the fight for a democracy and economy where we can all thrive.
Always serving you,
Rashida
