Public Support for Trump's Iran War Management Has Collapsed to 28% — and CBS
News Reported the Military Cannot Sustain the Rate at Which It Has Been
Expending Precision Weapons

Only 28% of Americans approve of how Trump is handling the Iran war. That
number sits far below his overall 39% approval and reflects five months of a
conflict that has pushed gas above $4, killed and wounded more than 600 service
members, and produced no publicly articulated exit strategy. A CBS News poll
found most respondents believe the conflict is more difficult than Trump
expected. Congress has already voted 214-208 to direct force removal through a
war powers resolution.

The political pressure alone would be severe. But there is also a military
constraint operating in parallel. CBS News reported that US forces cannot
sustain the rate at which they have been expending precision-guided weapons and
interceptors — the same concern that General Caine and Vice President Vance
raised in the White House meeting that initially produced the operational
pause. The combination of a 28% approval rating, depleting weapons stocks, a
House majority that has turned against the war, and 67% of Americans wanting it
to end has put enormous pressure on Trump to find an exit.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

* Only 28% of Americans approve of Trump's Iran war management, with most
telling pollsters the conflict is harder than he expected — combined with 67%
wanting the war ended and a House war powers vote against it, the political
pressure to exit is enormous.
* CBS News reported that US forces cannot sustain the pace of precision
weapon and interceptor expenditure — the military constraint that directly
parallels the political one and explains why the operational pause was welcomed
rather than resisted.
* Iran's Revolutionary Guard was still stopping vessels from transiting
Hormuz unauthorized, firing warning shots and turning ships back — making the
strait's reopening both the central economic prize and the lead element of what
Trump described as the proposed deal.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Navy had also been stopping vessels attempting to
transit Hormuz through routes not approved by Iranian authorities, firing
warning shots and turning back ships. Six vessels were stopped in a single day.
The Strait remains the central economic pressure point of the conflict — oil
above $4 at the pump, global shipping rerouting through Suez, and the specific
diplomatic objective of reopening Hormuz being what Trump said the proposed
deal would most immediately achieve.
