Thousands of fires across the Amazon have decimated a reported 3,500 square miles so far this year. We know that this is not a natural disaster but a premeditated attack on the rainforest and its indigenous inhabitants. That's why global action to denounce this crime and to pressure the Brazilian government and its corporate backers is so critical right now.
Amazon Watch has already stepped up our activities and, thanks to the amazing outpouring of public support and alliances with other concerned NGOs, the movement is growing – FAST!
Actions are already planned on EVERY continent for the Global Day of Action for the Amazon this Thursday, September 5th! In over a dozen countries people will protest, march, and stage vigils and sit-ins at Brazilian consulates and the offices of corporations enabling Amazon destruction like BlackRock, JBS, JPMorgan Chase, Wal-Mart, Costco, and more.
We have directed crucial funds to our partners on the ground in both Brazil and Bolivia who are fighting back to protect their lands and mobilize actions leading up to the UN General Assembly and Climate Week in New York later this month.
This is all possible because supporters like you have chosen to Stand With the Amazon and support our critical work. THANK YOU!
If you have not yet donated, now is the time! Make it a monthly gift so that we can build a powerful and ongoing response to the attacks against the Amazon, which endanger not only our indigenous allies but the Earth's climate itself.
We must act now!
