The Mouth of Sauron, Karoline Leavitt, has spoken: Donald Trump’s “patience is running out” with Senate Majority Leader John Thune on his inability to force through Trump’s voter suppression bill the SAVE Act. 

But Thune seems to also be losing patience, which is either a very good sign or a signal that Trump will threaten his position as Majority Leader next to get what he wants. 

Thune fired back at Trump in a veiled comment aimed at Leavitt:

“Well maybe she or somebody else ought to get on the phone and get the votes, right?” Thune told reporters. “It’s 50 around here. And, so, instead of pointing the finger at Republicans, they might think about going after the people who are stopping it on the floor, which is the Democrats.”

If Thune gives in and somehow finds the votes to pass the SAVE Act, we need to be ready for a full court press to stop the implementation of it in the courts and in statehouses across the country.

Defend Our Courts is fighting to elect independent-minded judges on state courts that will put the people and the law above Donald Trump.

We helped save the Democratic majority on the PA supreme court last year by working to reelect three Democratic justices up for retention. But more importantly, each of those justices were steadfastly committed to the rule of law, democracy, and to free and fair elections. 

There are almost zero GOP or right-leaning candidates in judicial races anywhere in the country who are willing to speak the truth about Trump’s 2020 election lies. 

Our work to build a firewall of state courts that will protect our votes following the November midterm election is not about any one party, not Democrats and not Republicans; it’s about loyalty to the Constitution and dedication to protecting and preserving the freedoms and rights we are all guaranteed by it. 

Trump will not rest until he has the sign off from Congress he wants to strip away and dismantle our right to vote, bit by bit. We won’t rest until he is soundly defeated this midterm and our courts are stacked not with partisan hacks but with experienced, competent, and fair minded jurists.
