Friends,
My name is Peggy Flanagan. My Ojibwe name is “Speaks in a Loud and Clear Voice Woman.” I am a member of the White Earth Nation, and my family is the Wolf Clan. The responsibility of our clan is to make sure that we leave no one behind.
That’s why I’m running for the U.S. Senate – because I refuse to leave anyone behind.
I was born and raised by a single mom in St. Louis Park, who relied on Section 8, childcare assistance, and food stamps to make it all work.
Our experiences taught me that big change doesn’t happen because powerful people suddenly decide they care. It happens because ordinary people organize, fight like hell, and refuse to give up. And that’s what I’ve done.
They said raising Minnesota’s minimum wage and indexing it to inflation was too ambitious. We won.
They said paid family and medical leave would never happen. We won.
They said feeding every public school student was too much. We won that fight, too.
That’s because you get what you organize for.
I’m running for the United States Senate because I want people to be able to afford the lives they want to live.
And that’s why I support Medicare for All, universal child care, a federal child tax credit, paid family and medical leave for the whole country, raising the federal minimum wage, letting farmers repair their own damn equipment…and of course, ripping apart ICE.
I grew up thinking the bottom could drop out at any moment – and for so many people right now, it already has. But it doesn’t have to be like this.
In Donald Trump’s America, there's plenty of money for ballrooms, bombs and billionaires – just not for you.
Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress don’t give a damn about you. They’ll always choose the ultrarich and big corporations over what everyday people need. But let’s be real about what else got us here: too many Democrats have caved when it mattered most.
I’ve held more than 275 events across this state, hearing from Minnesotans about what they want out of their next U.S. Senator, and everywhere I go, people tell me they’re sick and tired of Democrats bending to Republicans and fighting from a defensive crouch.
They’re sick of Washington politicians who tell us we cannot afford health care or child care or housing or fully funded schools… but we can afford tax breaks for the top 1%.
They’re tired of sending billions of taxpayer dollars to fund a genocide in Gaza while moms here are asking their kids to put something back on the grocery shelf because everything costs too much.
They’re tired of paying for an illegal war in Iran while falling deep into debt because of their own medical bills.
Well, in just 10 days, Minnesotans have a real choice about who will represent them in the United States Senate:
A corporate Democrat whose campaign is funded by AIPAC, crypto bros, and dark money super PACs. Someone who backed President Trump and ICE when it mattered most, and has consistently voted to send bombs and millions of dollars in weapons to Netanyahu.
Or me, a Minnesotan whose campaign is funded by small-dollar grassroots donations from inspired progressives across the state and country.
This campaign is about the many versus the money. I’m part of the many, and I’m betting on us.
I’m done waiting. Are you with me?
Chi miigwech (big thank you)
💚 Peggy
