The resulting consequences for local communities can be severe.

As one editorial in Florida recently put it, what partisan lawmakers did in the pursuit of power takes "a hatchet to common-sense representation" — pointing out that one district created by the sudden redraw is "so geographically disconnected that a hurricane striking its eastern edge might be a concern for only half the district’s voters. The western edge is far enough away that it could stay bone dry for hours."

This isn’t how democracy is supposed to work — and that’s the point. Anti-democracy extremists are trying to make it harder for people to make their voices heard. We’re not going to let that stand — can you rush in a donation today and help fight back to make sure the will of the people wins out this fall and beyond? [[link removed]]

Of course, Florida is not alone. We’ve seen seismic district shifts in states like Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee, and others — deliberate efforts to take away voting power from communities of color, especially Black voters.

That's exactly why we’re marshalling our grassroots energy to ensure voters are educated about their districts ahead of the November midterms. While anti-democracy forces seek to create confusion, it’s our duty to make sure voters have clear, accurate information about how to make their voices heard.

But we’ll be frank: The national redistricting crisis has made this an uphill battle — and it requires resources. Every little bit helps. Can you make a gift today to help advance this critical work? [[link removed]]
