John, Once you’ve signed up, depending on your jurisdiction, you will either be contacted by Power the Polls, a partner organization, or your local election administrators regarding your application. Before Election Day, you get trained to set up voting stations, help voters check-in or update their voter registration information, help elderly or disabled citizens vote, pass out “I Voted” stickers, and break down polling places at the end of the day -- all important tasks that will help to ensure every voter’s voice is heard and their ballot counted. As a poll worker on Election Day, you’re in for a long day. You have to be alert, but you feel accomplished after because you were a part of democracy. It really helped to have my best friend Brittny there with me. You can help make sure we have safe, fair, and accessible elections, and potentially get paid to do it. Forward this email to your best friend and sign up to be poll workers together. I’m so glad I decided to be a poll worker. I hope you’ll consider doing it too.
