Dear John,

Make sure everyone you know is registered and ready to vote by mail.

There are only 63 days until election day. Sixty-three days ago on June 30th, the president retweeted that video of the St. Louis couple pointing guns at Black protesters. To us, that feels like it happened just yesterday. Time is moving fast. And election day is approaching.

John, we need to act quickly to make sure voters have time to request their ballots to vote by mail. That’s why, through the month of September, we will be emailing one action for you to take during the week, and one action for you during the weekend.

It starts today. Please send a quick email to your friends about our voting tool. Commit to sending it to at least five people. Through this voting tool, you and all your friends can check and update your registration, register to vote, and sign up to vote by mail.

Quick, right now, can you think of five people in your life who might not be registered to vote or know how to vote by mail? I can. Two of them are college students. One is my uncle in Colorado. And two are new friends I’ve made recently in the town I live in. I’m going to send this vote tool to all five.

Can you think really hard about similar people in your life? This is how democracy grows. Please help us.

In exactly 63 days, we will be watching the news, wondering who the next president will be. We will find out how many voters were disenfranchised and how many mail-in ballots were invalidated. If the general election is anything like the primaries, we will feel furious when we find out that thousands of absentee ballots never arrived to voters. At CCAN Action Fund, we have asked ourselves to think about how we will feel 63 days from now when we look back at the month of September. Will we be able to say we did everything we could to protect voters? And now, we are asking you the same question.

We cannot rely on voting organizations to do all of the work for us this election cycle. We have to each do our part to make sure our communities know how to vote. You may be ready to vote, but not everyone in your network is. Share our voting tool so that others can make their voices heard this fall.

Please send a quick email to your friends about our voting tool. Commit to sending it to at least five people. Through this voting tool, you and all your friends can check and update your registration, register to vote, and sign up to vote by mail.
