Good evening. It's Matt Maasdam — one more email from me before our July deadline ends.

Our campaign to flip MI-07 is coming up- Primary Election Day is on this upcoming Tuesday, August 4.

But forget about that for a moment. I want to tell you a little about why I decided to get in this race in the first place.

My wife Laura and I keep this sign up on the back of our door at all times. It’s the last thing our kids see before they go out into the world every day.

Be kind. Leave it better than you found it. Work twice as hard as everyone else. Family first. These are the values we’re trying to teach our kids.

But those aren’t the values we’re seeing in Washington right now. The guy who’s currently in this seat is ripping away healthcare from Michigan families to fund a tax break for billionaires.

My opponent, Congressman Tom Barrett, has taken hundreds of thousands of dollars from the likes of Betsy DeVos, Elon Musk, and Mike Johnson. He’s even in the pockets of the big pharma corporations.

He isn’t working for mid-Michigan — he’s working for his campaign donors.

That’s why I believe that we need normal people, not politicians, to step up and lead. It’s why I made the decision to run for Congress. And it’s why I don’t take a cent of corporate PAC money.

Flipping this district is going to be an uphill battle. But with supporters like you on my Team, I’m confident that we have the best shot to do it. But first, we need to win in 5 days.
