Hi John,
As a Starbucks barista and union member, I know firsthand that greedy corporations only listen when their bottom line is at stake. Every day, as consumers, we make choices about where our hard-earned money goes, and when costs are sky high, that money is VALUABLE.
We have the power to hold companies accountable; when they rig the system against working people, immigrants, and our communities, we take our money elsewhere.
Can we count on you not to shop at Target this back-to-school season? [[link removed]]
Time and again, Target has turned its back on the communities that made its success possible, walking away from commitments to racial equity while remaining silent as ICE terrorizes immigrant families and communities. Target even donated $1 million to Donald Trump's inaugural fund and has allowed ICE to make arrests inside its stores, and even permitted ICE to apprehend its own employees while they were at work.
For working families across the country, back-to-school shopping season is approaching. Right now, we have more power than ever to hold Target accountable for siding with the politicians who are making our lives worse.
We demand Target:
* Keep ICE out. Commit to being a Fourth Amendment workplace and refuse to enable ICE’s indiscriminate surveillance and attacks on our communities.
* Refrain from collaboration with ICE. T erminate any relationship that helps facilitate family separation, workplace raids, or mass deportations.
* Fight for community investment. Support reforms that redirect resources to immigrant communities, healthcare, education, and housing.
* Respect workers. Protect Target workers and pay a living wage.
We refuse to spend our hard-earned money at corporations that fuel hate, make workers less safe, and divide our communities. This back-to-school season, we pledge not to shop at Target. [[link removed]]
We can fight back against companies and their quest to put profits over people. It’s time we divert our spending. Our money, our power. We’re in control.
