You helped us reach over 600 women!
** A message from our Outreach Manager S.J.:
------------------------------------------------------------
A man pulled a gun on me.
I was doing outreach to trafficked women on the streets with a team. One of the men driving by didn’t like what we were doing, so he pulled a gun on us. We got out of there quickly, but that moment marked me.
It was traumatizing enough that for a while, I couldn't bring myself to go back to those same streets. But months later, I found myself organizing Exodus Cry's biggest US-based outreach yet for the World Cup.
Needless to say, I was carrying a lot of uncertainty.
For an outreach campaign this size, we needed volunteers—and it’s not an easy sell when you’re honest about the risks.
At first, hardly anyone signed up. But little by little, more than 300 volunteers answered the call.
I won't pretend the uncertainty went away. Outreach means meeting real women controlled by real traffickers — so we trained our teams for every scenario we could think of, and prayed God would protect them and open doors for real conversations.
When our first World Cup outreach weekend arrived, we visited streets known for prostitution, reached out at strip clubs, and connected with women being advertised on escort websites.
We even reached out to sex buyers.
As everything came together, I found myself overwhelmed with gratitude. In an outreach of this size, I honestly couldn't believe how smoothly everything unfolded.
It was especially encouraging when the local news took time to cover our outreach efforts, three separate times!
And even more inspiring that we got to help two women immediately exit the sex trade.
** Over the course of the month, through 16 separate outreaches, we had the privilege of connecting with over 600 women trapped in sexual exploitation.
------------------------------------------------------------
We looked them in the eyes and reminded them that they are loved, that their dreams matter, and that freedom is possible.
We prayed with them, embraced them as they wept, listened to their stories, and gave them thoughtful gifts that included things like makeup, snacks, a journal, and jewelry—small reminders that they have not been forgotten.
Together, we:
* Hand-delivered 381 gifts filled with practical items and reminders that these women are deeply loved.
* Reached 264 women being advertised on escort websites
* Helped 2 women leave sexual exploitation and enter a crisis shelter
That last number is especially significant. It’s rare to do outreach and encounter even one woman who is ready to get out, right at that moment.
Why? Because leaving exploitation is rarely a single decision. It often takes tremendous courage—built up over time—to walk away from a trafficker, especially when fear has controlled someone's life for so long.
That's why each woman also received a beautiful bracelet engraved with the phone number for ReHope ([link removed]) , the crisis shelter and restoration home we partnered with.
Long after our outreach teams are gone, those bracelets remain—a constant reminder that freedom is only a phone call away.
There are far more stories from this month of outreach than I could ever fit into one email. But one thing is certain: this outreach changed lives.
And none of it would have been possible without you. Because of your support, women encountered hope and compassion. Former buyers found the will to repent. And seeds of courage were planted in places where fear has reigned for far too long.
Thank you for believing that every person deserves dignity, hope, and the chance for a new beginning. Your generosity is helping restore lives, one brave conversation at a time.
With gratitude,
S.J. Evans - Director of Outreach at Exodus Cry
