Candace wrote to you about the big victory against the $111 billion Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery merger: Paramount agreed to pause their acquisition after a federal judge suggested that the antitrust lawsuit here has merit. That was a big win. But the next few weeks are going to be even bigger.

On Aug. 6, the FCC votes on whether to “repeal” the broadcast ownership cap — the law that keeps one company from controlling stations reaching more than 39 percent of U.S. households. If it passes, it blows the doors wide open for even more consolidation. Carr announced his scheme in a Breitbart op-ed … but as a friendly reminder: The FCC does not have the authority to overrule a law that Congress passed.

And the ABC license fight enters its next phase as the comment period closes and the FCC decides whether to move toward a hearing.
