President's Message July is Disability Pride Month, a time to celebrate the strengths, experiences, and contributions of people with disabilities while reaffirming our commitment to creating schools where every student feels valued, supported, and able to thrive. School nurses help make that vision a reality every day by removing barriers to learning, collaborating with families and school teams, and advocating for the health and well-being of students with disabilities. In June, NASN also affirmed that role through our statement on the proposed transfer of special education and civil rights oversight, recognizing the importance of protecting the services and supports students rely on. As Disability Pride Month comes to a close, I encourage you to reflect on the many ways school nurses help foster belonging and opportunity for every student.
