Earlier this month, Donald Trump fired the remaining Democratic commissioners of the bipartisan U.S. Election Assistance Commission, leaving the independent agency without leadership just months before the 2026 elections.

Some background:

The EAC was created by Congress to help states administer free, fair, and secure elections. Without commissioners, it cannot carry out many of its most important responsibilities.

So why have they been fired?

Because the Trump administration has already tried to use the EAC to implement parts of its election agenda after Congress rejected the SAVE Act.

Now, legal experts are warning that this latest move could trigger another round of courtroom battles over whether the president has the authority to reshape an independent election agency.

This is why the DASS Legal Fund exists.

Over the past several months, Democratic Secretaries of State have repeatedly defeated attempts to seize voter data, interfere with mail voting, and override the constitutional authority of the states. Those victories only happened because election officials had the resources to fight back in court.

As the Trump administration continues testing the limits of presidential power over our election system, Democratic Secretaries of State will once again need experienced legal teams ready to defend the Constitution, protect state authority, and stop unlawful interference before it reaches voters.

The legal fights over our elections are only becoming more frequent - and more expensive. Will you rush $3 - or whatever you can - to the DASS Legal Fund today so Democratic Secretaries of State have the resources to challenge unlawful election interference and defend democracy? [[link removed]]
