Dear PAVe Supporters, Last Friday evening (on Zoom, no less) California Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law historic legislation that had passed just hours before, making California only the second state in the nation to ban all flavored tobacco products (including all flavors of e-cigarettes and menthol cigarettes). On the heels of this momentous victory, for which PAVe’s California volunteers worked tirelessly, and on the eve of FDA’s long-delayed September 9th deadline when vaping companies must submit for regulatory review any products that were introduced to the market after August 2016, we hope today’s podcast episode provides a template for those who seek to solve the youth vaping epidemic. Dr. Eduardo Sanchez, Chief Medical Officer for Prevention at the American Heart Association, shares public-health lessons learned from the fight against smoking that can can be applied to the vaping crisis. Sanchez, a former Texas Health Commissioner and father of four, explains why a multi-pronged approach that simultaneously focuses on identifying treatments for teen nicotine addiction, researching short and long term harms of vaping, and pushing for regulations at the state and federal levels must be the way forward. |

After you are done listening, sign up to get involved with PAVe on the ground. In order for us to keep you up-to-date about what’s happening in your city or state, we need your zip code. Please share it here. It takes parents like you to protect our kids from the dangers of vaping and the predatory behavior of Big Tobacco. Sincerely, The PAVe Team |
