Dear Friends,

I’m not going to sugarcoat it: hardworking South Texas families cannot afford basic necessities in our current economy, and we’re feeling it the hardest at the grocery store and the gas pump.

The Iran War, which the American people did not vote for, and the Administration has yet to articulate a clear strategy to end, is costing the average household more than $1,200, including $360 more in gas and $240 more in groceries. Meanwhile, extreme Republicans in the House are focused on defending the President’s costly war, tariffs that are raising prices for small businesses and consumers, and stripping SNAP benefits and healthcare from tens of thousands of South Texans under the so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

With 61% of Americans cutting back on groceries and two-thirds are struggling to make ends meet citing to prices at the pump, Washington extremists continue to put families in an impossible position of choosing between putting food on the table, filling a prescription, or paying rent.

Despite Republicans having complete control of the White House and Congress, I’m working with my colleagues—on both sides of the aisle—to overcome these challenges and lower costs and create good paying jobs.
