Obviously, this video is a joke. But debt vultures are not.

Debt vultures are speculators: rather than lending money directly they scour the horizon looking for countries in crisis whose debt they can buy up at rock bottom prices. Then they often threaten legal action.

Right now, 54 lower-income countries are trapped in a debt crisis, forced to choose between funding essential services and repaying debt.

Meanwhile, debt vultures have swooped in on countries like Ethiopia and threatened legal action to apparently strong-arm them into full repayment plus as much interest as they can get – pocketing vast profits.

And where are they doing this? Right here in the UK. That’s because a shocking nine in ten of these private debt contracts are governed by our law.

A new debt justice law would stop debt vultures threatening to sue countries in crisis through UK courts and force private lenders to take part in debt cancellation.

It’s not only the debt that needs cancelling. If our campaign succeeds, this influencers days of threatening to sue countries in crisis are numbered.
