I just checked our fundraising numbers and right now we’re 96% of the way
to reaching our big $45,000 August fundraising goal.

This is huge. Hitting this goal will give our team the funds we need to
keep electing progressive-minded prosecutors and fighting against racist,
anti-reform groups flooding money in elections across the country.

You’ve heard me say it before and I’ll say it again. District attorneys
are some of the most powerful elected officials who can turn the tide on
systemic racism and oppression in the justice system.

Here’s just one example of why this matters so much: Last week in San
Antonio, police murdered Sergeant Damian Lamar Daniels, a Black veteran
who served his country with honor, in his own home, while responding to a
mental health call.

Today, Damian’s family is meeting with San Antonio District Attorney Joe
Gonzales, who Real Justice helped elect in 2018. This doesn’t mean instant
accountability, but unlike what we’re seeing in Kenosha and so many other
places, it shows that with the right kind of leaders in office, we can
make sure that police officers are answerable to their actions and
families have a chance at justice.

This is why Real Justice’s work is so important. And it’s why we set a
$45,000 fundraising goal for this month.
