Friend,

Today, we celebrate working families in America, and the ways their labor has made our country better and stronger. From the workers enjoying the retirement they rightfully earned, to those just entering the workforce for their first summer jobs — thank you for all you do to move our country forward.

We've always believed that a healthy community requires good-paying jobs and a vibrant, strong working and middle class. It's what Hakeem's been fighting for from the moment he entered elected office — and it’s what House Democrats are fighting to win every day in order to build the foundation for a successful America.

We didn’t win back the majority by promising to fight for the wealthy, the well-off, or the well-connected — we won by standing shoulder to shoulder with millions of hard-working, everyday Americans who deserve fair hours, living wages, safe working conditions, benefits that last, a secure retirement, and the right to collectively bargain.

These are simple ideas that ought to be true for every American, and they’re what Hakeem's fighting for as chairman of the House Democratic Caucus.

Unions have made life better for Americans throughout our history — and service employees, builders, teachers, and workers across the country still drive our economy today.

There’s a lot of work ahead of us, so today, let’s recommit to protecting and growing the middle class, and creating a path for everyone who aspires to be part of it. If you're with us, add your name to the thank you card to show appreciation for workers across the nation today.
