Today I stood in San Diego with business owners, labor leaders, and community advocates to demand that the Trump Administration start processing DACA renewals on time.

Right now, it takes twice as long to become a citizen as it used to and frankly, the delays look intentional. They look political. And they are upending people's lives.

Nearly 9,000 DACA recipients call San Diego home. They work here, they pay taxes here, and for most of them this country is the only home they have ever known. Every day a renewal sits in a backlog is a day someone can lose their work authorization, their income, and their health coverage. My office is handling the highest volume of immigration casework I have seen in my entire time in Congress.

Dreamers contribute $968 million to San Diego's economy every year.

I spoke out when Donald Trump attacked DACA the first time - and I’m still speaking out today because our work is not over.

But I can only keep doing this work if I win in November - and not just me, but a Democratic majority who will fight at my side.

We are 98 days out, my Republican opponent came within 6 points of me in the primary. National Republicans are determined to hold the House.

We have to show them Democrats are going to fight this year.
