As the son of a union power line worker, I learned early in life the value of a dollar and the importance of hard work. Some of our hardest workers struggle each day to feed their families and afford the basics. This is a direct result of corporations siphoning their investments away from their workers and redirecting them to their shareholders, all the while raising prices on the backs of hardworking Americans.

I am proud to stand with working Washingtonians, both in my district and across our state, and I am honored to win the support of many unions in our grassroots campaign to restore the economic dignity of the working class, including:

* Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO
* AFSCME Council 28 (Washington Federation of State Employees)
* Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA)
* Washington State Building & Construction Trades Council
* Washington Education Association
* Inlandboatmen's Union of the Pacific, Marine Division of the I.L.W.U.
* Snohomish & Island County Labor Council
* International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302
* Washington Machinists Council
* American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE)

Unions are the first and best line of defense against the assault on America's working class. They represent the good that comes from us banding together to demand more of each other. For generations, workers have forged better lives through stronger wages, benefits, and protections thanks to their ability to take a stand.

And, as we struggle through a divisive time in our country's history, I cannot think of a moment in my lifetime when union values have been more needed: a sense of togetherness, asking the most of each other, and a commitment to hard work.

I believe organized labor is the backbone of our country. As your representative in Congress, I will always be a voice for working families in Northwest Washington. That is not negotiable.

More soon,

Rick
