Friends,
This morning I had breakfast with members of New Hampshire’s labor movement for the NH-AFL-CIO Labor Day Breakfast at Saint George and had the chance to speak about my commitment to our workforce.
Today we must recognize that for millions of people, Labor Day is not a long weekend, or time for one last cookout with friends, or a chance to catch a big sale. For many today is just another workday -- and I’m appreciative of all the folks who are working today.
As a small business owner, I know that when we invest in and support our employees, we all do better. Things like living wages, fair hours, posting schedules in advance, vacation time, and healthcare can make a world of a difference for American workers and families.
I believe that in order to achieve and maintain a functioning economy or democracy, we need to address income inequality first. And to live up to our nation’s promise, we must make the American Dream accessible to everyone.
We’re all stronger when we work together toward a common goal -- I’ve seen that first hand on this campaign, in Congress, and at my family’s restaurant.
I can’t thank you enough for being part of Team Pappas and for trusting me to keep our country moving forward. Your support is what will keep me in Washington and leading the fights ahead.
Thanks again and Happy Labor Day,
Chris
