Library associate helps the elderly stay connected to their community
Marida Fogle has dedicated her career to serving others. Every day, she delivers books to patrons at senior living facilities who can no longer get out and about easily. Fogle says that being there for them is one way she helps them connect to their community. Growing up in a neighborhood in Kansas City, Fogle didn't have access to many resources. But one thing she could always count on was the library. Since then, it has become a resource she has never taken for granted. Today, Fogle, an outreach associate for the Daniel Boone Regional Library in Columbia, Missouri, and a member of AFSCME Local 3311 (Council 61), is being recognized for her dedication to her community and for making a difference in the lives of people she serves every day.
“What gets me out of bed in the morning is knowing that I’m going to be helping my community,” she says.
