John,
Tonight, another mass shooting terrorized families during what should have been a safe Sunday evening at the Bite of Seattle at City Center. While details are still emerging, multiple people have been shot. Our hearts are with the victims, their loved ones, the witnesses forced to experience this trauma, and the first responders who arrived on scene.
No one should have to run for their lives while attending a community festival, nor should any parent have to wonder whether a family outing will end in gunfire. This is not something we should accept as inevitable, and it is not something we have to live with.
We will continue to monitor updates from the Seattle Police Department and remain committed to advancing the policies and community investments that prevent tragedies like this. Tonight, though, our focus is on the people whose lives were forever changed in an instant and on the entire Seattle community grieving yet another act of preventable gun violence. -The Alliance for Gun Responsibility Team |
