A digital skimming group called UltraRank is targeting supply chain players, as well as individual websites -- an unusual approach -- and has hit roughly 700 targets, Singaporean cybersecurity firm Group-IB reports. Another unusual element of the operation is UltraRank's affiliated card shop, ValidCC, which monetizes stolen data and claims to have made up to $7,000 per day.

Survey: Data privacy, trust crucial for brand loyalty

Research from Privitar reveals 78% of Americans are worried about safeguarding personal information and 42% won't share it for any reason. Some 40% say brand trustworthiness is their top reason for being loyal customers, while 31% say a brand protecting their data is their top reason, and Privitar CEO Jason du Preez says the research shows "the growing need for brands to focus on building and maintaining this trust, starting first and foremost with protecting customer data."
