John,
As we celebrate and soak up the last of summer this Labor Day, I want us to take a moment to remember the significance of this day.
We owe a great debt to the working men and women who put their lives on the line to protect the workers’ rights that we all enjoy: the eight-hour workday; paid leave and benefits; the right to retire with dignity. We celebrate today because of their sacrifices.
Throughout history, working Americans have fought hard to see our economy boom and our rights protected. We must honor their hard work and great sacrifices on this and every Labor Day.
The concerns of our hardworking men and women are always at the forefront of my mind. It’s all about standing up for the middle class and doing what’s right for regular working people.
On this Labor Day, let’s take an extra minute to thank working Americans, past and present, for their sacrifices and hard work. Because of their diligence and commitment to exceptional ideals -- and the example set by generations of American workers -- our economy has prospered.
Happy Labor Day to you and your family.
