This week: NAFCU kicks advocacy into high gear ahead of Caucus, elections [ [link removed] ]
NAFCU's advocacy remains in high gear as the close of the Democratic National Convention and Republican National Convention launches election season into full swing. The association encourages credit unions to register for its upcoming Virtual Congressional Caucus where credit unions across the country can connect with lawmakers and regulators to ensure key credit union issues are represented at the federal level.
NAFCU urges flexibility, reduced burden as NCUA considers virtual exams [ [link removed] ]
In response to the NCUA's request for information (RFI) on future exam modernization efforts, NAFCU Director of Regulatory Affairs Ann Kossachev Friday shared the association's appreciation for the NCUA's progress on certain reform initiatives and urged the agency to prioritize reducing examination burden. The agency is currently seeking ways to leverage new technology, analytics, and other capabilities to transition to a mostly virtual exam format.
FHFA to hold listening sessions on GSEs' capital proposal [ [link removed] ]
The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) will hold two public listening sessions – Sept. 10 and Sept. 14 – to gather additional feedback on its proposed rule to set capital requirements for the government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs). NAFCU was generally supportive of the proposal when it was originally issued last year, but continues to advocate that certain safeguards are codified by Congress before removing the GSEs from conservatorship.
