I sat down for an interview recently and got asked the question straight: do you think you're going to lose the House?

Here is exactly what I said.

"There's no question we're going to hold the House. No question."

And before I left the stage, I said it again:

"I guarantee you we're going to hold the House."

I want you to understand what I just did.

Every consultant in Washington will tell you never to say that. You hedge. You talk about "headwinds." You leave yourself an exit.

I didn't leave myself one.

I said it because I believe it, and I said it because I wanted it on the record. My name is on the FEC filing for this committee. When the results come in this November, there is no committee to hide behind and no press release that will save me. It's my name.

So here is the honest part.

I told them we have better candidates, the map favors us, and we have the resources. Two of those three are already true. The candidates are recruited. The map is drawn.

The third one is up to you.

I did not make that guarantee because I have a fundraising number in a spreadsheet. I made it because I have been counting on you for four years and you have never once let me down.

Please don't let yesterday be the day I was wrong.
