Dear John,
Last week was a busy week for our campaign!
On Tuesday, I was proud to participate with Dr. Carol Swain and leaders from the Frederick Douglass Foundation of Virginia at a symposium that focused on some of the important issues facing our communities, our state and our country. From parental involvement in education options to supporting our law enforcement to how our country is dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, we covered a wide range of topics that impact families all across our district. I am proud to have received the support of this organization. Please take some time to watch the video of the program here ([link removed]) and acquaint yourself with the knowledgeable professionals who are involved with the Foundation and reside in the 5th District.
It was truly an honor to be joined for this event by Dr. Carol Swain. Few people know that Dr. Swain grew up in Bedford County. Having grown up in poverty as one of twelve children, Dr. Swain became an accomplished professor, author and political commentator. Dr Swain currently serves as a Co-Chair of Black Voices for Trump. Her forthright commentary on our culture and political climate was appreciated by our attendees at the symposium. All of this was made possible by the work of our Women for Good Coalition to whom I am grateful!
On Friday, I was joined by Congressman Louie Gohmert from the First District of Texas for a fundraising event. Congressman Morgan Griffith and former Congressman Dave Brat were able to attend as special guests. I am honored to have the support of these conservative champions! My gracious hosts, the Epperson's, opened their beautiful home to a large crowd for the event!
Then Saturday, I, along with some of our #Students for Good volunteers, spent some time knocking doors and speaking to voters in our district. I heard directly from the voters about their concerns for our country. The impact of Covid on jobs, our economy and the education of our children and the violence going on in cities all over the country dominated the conversations. I especially appreciated hearing from some of our senior citizens who are worried about the direction of our country.
Our campaign has a number of public events that we'll be scheduling in the coming weeks so please stay in touch through our Facebook page ([link removed]) and our website ([link removed]) for dates and locations. You can contact us any time at
