Most of his "jokes" were extremely offensive, including a horrendously transphobic attack on CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins, and the few jokes that WERE funny were DOA as the low-energy elderly pedophile couldn't be bothered to inject an ounce of effort into his delivery. If he was hoping to have a night similar to President Obama's famous performance all those years ago, he failed unequivocably.

Republicans kick the can on Blanche confirmation
Members of the U.S. Senate tasked with advancing acting Attorney General Todd Blanche’s nomination to be the nation’s top law enforcer on Thursday pushed the vote one week. The Senate Judiciary Committee’s delayed vote to send the controversial nominee to the full Senate is “per standard committee practice,” according to a spokesperson for Chairman Chuck Grassley. The Iowa Republican and the committee’s top Democrat, Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois, and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., used the time that had been allocated for the vote to comment at length on Blanche’s nomination. Grassley then recessed the session because too many Republicans were absent, which he described as “kind of rude.” Durbin said Thursday he and fellow Democrats oppose Blanche, who worked as Trump’s personal defense lawyer prior to his appointment to the DOJ, because he “will continue to serve the interests of Donald Trump, not the American people."

Trump weighs "massive attack" as Iran rejects cease-fire proposal
It appears there will be no hasty retreat from weeks of escalating attacks between the U.S. and Iran, which have destabilized energy markets yet again. On Thursday, President Donald Trump told Axios that he is weighing restarting major combat operations in Iran. Trump said he could carry out even larger strikes than the Operation Epic Fury strikes that killed dozens of Iranian leaders and started the war on Feb. 28. “I am considering a massive attack. Bigger than ever before. I am close to making a decision. We are all set for it,” Trump said, adding that he knows there would be consequences to such an attack and that a final determination has not been made. The President said Israel “would join in two minutes” if asked but that “we don’t need anybody.” Trump also said that Iran is “not ready” to make a deal and that its leaders “have some evil intentions.” Trump’s remarks came after Iran reportedly rejected a 15-point cease-fire proposal from the U.S. that was delivered by Iraq on Wednesday.

John Thune and the White House Are openly fighting over the SAVE Act
The battle over the SAVE America Act ratcheted up a few notches Thursday as the White House and Senate Majority Leader John Thune traded barbs over the lack of progress on the voting bill that President Donald Trump considers his top priority. Trump’s frustrations about the stalled legislation have simmered for months but took a sharp turn Wednesday. At a rally in Georgia, he panned the upper chamber as “a place you send things when you want them to die." But it was a back-and-forth between White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt and Thune that really added gas to the fire. When Leavitt was pressed about the Republican leader, she told reporters that the president’s “patience is running out” — comments that did not sit well with Thune. “She or somebody else ought to get on the phone and get the votes, right?” the mild-mannered Thune shot back. “So instead of pointing the finger at Republicans, they might think about going after the people who are stopping it on the floor, which is the Democrats. And if there are Republicans that they think are gettable, get on the phone.

Trump escalates Smithsonian attack with order for signs outside history museum
Donald Trump on Friday ordered the interior department to display signs in front of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History that accuse the institution of inaccuracy. The order escalates the Trump’s attacks against the Smithsonian, which he and his allies accuse of politicizing the institution by focusing too much on injustices in American history, instead of more triumphant moments such as the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The order says the signs “shall notify visitors that the museum exhibits should be renovated consistent with the findings in the report”. The signs should direct the public to other places where they can get better American history information, the order says.
