Day after day, the United States continues its attacks on Iran, with no clear plan to stop them. War never leads to peace. It only results in more deaths and puts the path toward stability further out of reach.

Meanwhile, at home, regular people struggle to make ends meet. And the cost of the war keeps climbing, surpassing $37.5 billion. Enough is enough.

Our tax dollars should be going to support our communities, not destroy communities overseas. Congress must do everything in its power to end the war with Iran.

Both the House and Senate have passed resolutions directing the Trump administration to end the war. Join us in urging Congress to block any more funding for this war and demand the administration stop all military action against Iran.

FOOD JUSTICE

A decade of growing community in L.A. [link removed]

In 2015, neighbors in South Central Los Angeles began transforming a long-vacant lot into a vibrant community farm, with support from AFSC’s Roots for Peace program. It started with building vegetable beds to grow food for the neighborhood. Over time, it has become a hub for cultural celebrations, sharing ancestral seeds, and supporting immigrant leadership. CRISIS IN GAZA

Another child killed in Gaza [link removed]

In August of last year, we published the story of Karim, a 9-year-old child who attended one of our learning centers in Gaza. He was killed in an Israeli airstrike. Last month, Israeli forces killed another child from the same project. His name was Tamim Hassan Labad. He was 10 years old. These young boys are two of more than 20,000 Palestinian children killed since the start of the genocide. Writing about Tamim is not only to remember him. It is also to say that the world cannot stand by as Israeli forces continue to kill children in Gaza. Read more. [link removed]

Advocates press for action on tuberculosis in detention centers [link removed]

At least one case of tuberculosis has been confirmed inside Colorado's for-profit GEO detention center. Reports suggest the real number could be much higher. But GEO and ICE are refusing to let the county health department investigate as required by state law. AFSC and partners are demanding the attorney general force compliance to save lives. "People inside GEO need help, not just around tuberculosis, but around healthcare," said AFSC's Miriam Ordoñez. What’s happening shows “the incredible neglect that is happening inside." AFSC is now accepting applications for our Reparative Justice and Healing Fund. The fund provides grants of up to $10,000 to Black and Indigenous-led social justice organizations in the United States. Now in its third year, the fund is inspired by our Quaker beliefs in justice, peace, and equality for all. To apply, organizations must complete our short questionnaire by July 31.
