On Wednesday evening, I voted AGAINST the annual defense bill. Also known as the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), this $1 trillion bill will support Trump's war of choice with Iran. Republicans also attached the voter suppression SAVE Act to the bill.

While we did not have enough votes to stop this combination bill in the House, I’m urging my colleagues in the Senate to VOTE NO.

I also passed my bill to reauthorize bipartisan ACT for ALS through the House this week! This bill will renew the programs under the 2021 ACT for ALS Law for another five years, funding critical scientific research and helping people living with ALS continue to access promising treatments.

I want to thank everyone who made the ACT for ALS Reauthorization possible, including Chicagoans and I AM ALS founders Brian Wallach and Sandra Abrevaya, the ALS Association‬, the ALS Network‬, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. I also want to thank my fellow bill sponsors Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41), Senator Lisa Murkowski (AK), and Senator Chris Coons (DE) for their leadership on this essential legislation.

On Tuesday, I signed a discharge petition to force a vote on the historic American Dream and Promise Act. Led by Texas Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia, this bill will finally create pathway to citizenship for DACA Dreamers, DED, and TPS holders by helping them establish permanent residency

We need just 218 signatures to force Speaker Mike Johnson to bring the bill to a vote on the House floor. That's why I’m urging all of my colleagues who care about immigration reform to join us and sign.
