I cannot believe this is the sentence I am about to type, but here we are: Explosive diarrhea is now part of our national political conversation.

And no, sadly I’m not even kidding. We are dealing with yet another outbreak, the second one in a month, along with the return of measles and even screw worm. 🫣

So… what on Earth is happening?

Well, it turns out there are consequences when the Trump admin slashes research funding, fires public health experts, and treats scientists like they are somehow the enemy to all of us. Shocking, I know.

We need the people who track outbreaks. We need the scientists who identify new threats. We need experts at the CDC, NIH, and FDA who know how to stop an illness before it spreads through schools, nursing homes, workplaces, and entire communities.

Here is what really gets me. Donald Trump, RFK Jr., Dr. Oz, and the rest of this administration are playing politics with public health, and regular people are paying the price.

A kid gets measles. A family worries about an outbreak at school. A farmer fears a disease spreading through livestock. Someone gets sick because the experts who should have caught the threat early were fired or pushed out.

And then the same people who created the mess stand in front of a camera and promise to make America healthier.

Come on — give me a break.

You cannot make America healthier by attacking science. You cannot protect people by firing the people who protect them. And you cannot run a functioning government by pretending expertise does not matter until something goes terribly wrong.

That is why I spoke out today.

And we need to reach more people with the truth. We gotta fight the misinformation being pumped into our communities. And we need to build enough political power that attacking scientists, doctors, researchers, and public health workers comes with a real cost at the ballot box.
