Folks, summer is blockbuster season.
Every year, Hollywood rolls out the sequels: bigger budgets, higher stakes, the villain's back, and this time it's personal. Some of them are great. Some of them are a cynical cash grab that should never have been greenlit.
(I won't name names. I'm a Congressman, not a film critic. Though I do have opinions.)
But the blockbuster I want to pitch you this summer isn't playing at a theater. It's playing out across 435 congressional districts, and it’s only in theaters until November 3rd.
I've been in Congress for four terms. Four terms of fighting for clean energy, defending this district, and building toward a majority that will lift us out of this crisis.
This year is the payoff.
Republicans are clinging to a 218-214 majority. It’s the narrowest in nearly a century.
We need to flip three seats. The Cook Political Report has 18 races rated as toss-ups. Democratic candidates are outraising Republicans across the board. Prediction markets have us favored at over 80%.
The villain is doing what overconfident villains always do in the final act: overplaying his hand. The Big Ugly Bill. The EPA gutted. Medicaid slashed. Record low approval ratings.
We don't have CGI, special effects, or a billion-dollar budget to make this a success story. We have you and 435 districts' worth of people who are done watching the sequel where the villain wins. Will you chip in to help us write the most satisfying ending in House history?
Grab some popcorn. November's going to be worth watching.
