Patriot, 

I didn’t write this note quickly.

I typed it, stepped away from it, came back to it, and kept asking myself if I was saying this the right way.

Because what I’m asking of you is not small.

It’s personal to me, and I need you to understand why before you decide what to do next.

There is more I need to say, but I don’t want to squeeze it into a short email and risk you missing the heart of it.

So I’m asking you directly.
