Just In : New Statewide Program to Help Homeowners Build ADU’s
[[link removed]]
Yesterday, the Healey-Driscoll Administration announced the launch of a statewide Accessory Dwelling Unit Incentive Program [[link removed]] , designed to assist homeowners in accessing professional feasibility studies to see if an ADU is right for them.
The administration is partnering with the Massachusetts Housing Partnership, which has created a directory of providers who can assess site conditions, zoning considerations, design costs and budget needs. Providers listed have agreed not to charge [[link removed]] property owners more than $500 for feasibility studies provided under the ADU Incentive Program. Getting started is typically the hardest part of any project, and now building an ADU just got a whole lot easier!

[[link removed]] This month, a $65 million land purchase that spans [[link removed]] Weymouth, Rockland and Abington, officially launched what is planned to become the largest residential and mixed-use redevelopment project [[link removed]] currently proposed in Massachusetts. Starter Home Ballot Question
Officially on November Ballot:
The grassroots campaign to pass the Massachusetts Limit on Required Lot Size for Single-Family Homes Initiative is officially question #7 on the ballot for the upcoming election. The Legalize Starter Homes [[link removed]] campaign has been working tirelessly in their effort to increase housing supply in Massachusetts. If passed, it would allow for single-family homes to be built on lots of $5,000 square feet (about the size of an NBA basketball court) in any residentially zoned area with public water and sewer access. By eliminating local lot mandates, this measure will allow homebuilders to construct smaller, affordable starter homes for young families, seniors looking to downsize, and first-time homebuyers. Experts project this reform could supply up to 20% of the state's long-term housing targets. [[link removed]]
Gov. Healey Awards $18.6 Million in Tax Credits to Build 662 New Homes in Six Local Cities
The Healey-Driscoll administration is pumping $18.6 million into six "Gateway Cities" [[link removed]] — including Worcester, Lawrence, and Taunton — to turn empty mill buildings and vacant downtown spots into 662 brand-new rental homes. By tackling the state's severe housing shortage head-on, these new projects will inject a massive wave of fresh options into the market. These newly finalized July investments include $2.5 million for a 99-unit project in Lawrence, $3.8 million for 390 rental units in Taunton, and $3.6 million for downtown Worcester developments. The state also advanced a massive ongoing initiative to construct over 5,600 new housing units by converting underutilized state-owned land.
