NBC NEWS: Terminating payroll tax could end Social Security benefits in 2023

BREAKING: President Trump’s plan to freeze payroll taxes would prevent the government from being able to pay out Social Security benefits as soon as 2023.

That’s only three years from now.

And it doesn’t end there -- terminating payroll taxes would deplete the Disability Insurance Trust Fund by next year.

Trump’s plan for addressing the ongoing economic crisis is to take away critical paychecks from seniors and disabled workers. That’s not a plan at all.

I’ve spent my career fighting to protect Social Security from attacks and budget cuts like the ones Trump is proposing, and I plan to continue that fight for as long as it takes, but here’s the problem: Washington Republicans want me gone.
