Friends,

As we enjoy these last days of summer and celebrate our long Labor Day weekend, I want us to take a moment to remember the true significance of this day.

We owe a debt to the working men, women, and even children who put their lives on the line to protect the rights that we all enjoy: the eight-hour workday; paid leave and benefits; the right to retire with dignity. We celebrate today because of their sacrifices.

However, at a time when workers’ rights are under constant threat by the Trump administration, there is a lot more work to be done to push workers’ rights forward. I am proud to be a strong voice advocating for our country’s working families in Congress, and I’ll never stop stepping up to defend their rights -- no matter what Trump tries next.
