On Memorial Day each year, we join with our fellow Americans to honor the lives of the American patriots who have given the last full measure of devotion to defend the values of our great nation.

We also pause to honor and express gratitude to the families of our service members, especially those in Northern Virginia, who supported their loved ones' patriotic decision to fight for our liberty, ideals, and freedoms.

I maintain that we have a sacred obligation to the men and women who have sacrificed so much to defend our freedoms, and I remain committed to ensuring our veterans and their families receive the services and benefits that they have earned.

To the fallen and their family members, from the bottom of my heart: Thank you.
